Reopening the Library

At the time of writing, we are planning to reopen on Thursday 9th July at 10am. Most other libraries operated by Suffolk Libraries will be reopening in the same week. As you might expect our service will look a little different to start with and we are taking precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of staff. The library layout has been changed to accommodate social distancing and there will be queueing to enter the library. Books will be cleaned and quarantined for three days when returned so we will be closing an hour earlier each day to allow for this to take place. We will not be opening on Mondays for the time being in order to focus on our other opening days.

We are planning to operate a ‘Select and Collect’ model whereby customers will ring or email to request books by particular authors or from a particular genre; these books will be picked off our shelves and will be available for you to collect as a bundle. To start with, we will only be able to offer what is already on our shelves whilst we get our normal reservation system up and running again. We are not able to allow browsing of the shelves for the time-being. We hope to have our normal reservations system in place by the end of July and to be able to allow browsing in the library very soon. Please see the library’s contact details at the bottom of this page.

We continue to offer our eLibrary services for children and adults. Thousands of books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and films are available on your computer, tablet or phone. Just visit: https://www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/elibrary/

Groups will not be meeting in the library until government advice changes but we continue to offer our regular Tot Rock sessions on Facebook from 2.15pm-2.45pm every Thursday, Lego Club and Family Crafts on the weekend, and are looking at the best way to offer Top Time.

Finally, we are still running our Summer Reading Challenge but this year’s challenge will be online only. There are lots of activities, games, and badges to unlock on the Summer Reading Challenge website. For more information and to sign up, please visit: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

We hope to see you at the library very soon! We have really missed you.
