Most will know that 2014 marks the centenary of the beginning of the Great War. It is felt that it would be fitting to mark this occasion by producing information about the very brave people from Cockfield who gave their lives for the benefit of all successive generations.

I am writing to ask for anyone who has information about anyone named on the memorial, no matter how small, to get in touch. This could be photographs, anecdotes, letters,etc. etc. A small group is to collate all the information collected, together with further research, with the aim of a permanent written record. These men deserve our ongoing gratitude. I do hope you can help.
