Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Working with Digital Photos

Pre-requisite: Beginners Parts 1 and 2 or basic computing experience

In this session we will cover the key elements of managing your digital photo collection.

The main topics will include:

  • Downloading
  • Organising
  • Simple image editing
  • Printing and sharing

To demonstrate a number of these features the program Windows Live Photo Gallery will be used. This program is on the class machines, and is part of the Microsoft Essentials suite of programs available as a free download from the Microsoft website. There are many other such programs, including Picasa, and programs supplied with your camera.

For those bringing laptops who do not have this program installed, specific instructions will be given to load the program.

Please bring your camera loaded with a few new pictures that you don’t mind sharing, and your USB cable which connects the camera to the computer. There’s no need to bring the cable if you’re bringing your laptop and you normally directly load your memory card into the computer. For those of you who use the CCC machines, they do have card reader slots for the most common card types if you can’t find your camera cable.

It may help to bring the USB cable just to recognise there is the possibility that your camera card is not the same format as the card readers in the class machines.
