Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Cockfield Minibus

To the Residents of Cockfield,

As you are no doubt aware the village has had a minibus in excess of forty years. We are now on our fourth vehicle, a 2012 14seat Transit style vehicle, that can be driven on a car licence. This valuable asset is owned by the Parish Council and operated collaboratively by the Community Council.

In recent years usage has declined and both Councils are jointly minded that this situation should be turned around in order that it be more financially sustainable going forward.

To achieve this, we are reaching out to residents and asking for further volunteers to come forward with an enthusiasm to provide administration support and to explore and promote opportunities to generate further income. Exactly how it would work can be discussed with whoever comes forward.

This year has obviously been a challenging one, but going into the New Year we very much hope that we can make best use of this worthy community asset.

We would appreciate any enquiries no later than early January and ideally as soon as possible.

Rodney Williams – Chairman Cockfield Community Council

If you have an interest in helping, in the first instance could you please make contact through Janne Cutting-Keyton (Cockfield Community Council Secretary), community.council@cockfield.org.uk

Janne will be able to give further details and explain the management and administration process associated with the minibus.
