Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Cockfield Village Fete

I am glad we did not call it a Summer Fete, after the previous two days of sunshine I was hopeful the weekend would remain warm and sunny – alas it did not happen but despite the windy conditions and cloud I am glad to say the village rose to the occasion and turned out to support us.

The Chairman of the Community Council would like to express his thanks to his committee for their hard work before and on the day and also to those villagers who volunteered their help, gave donations and prizes for the raffle, and kindly lent gazebos and tents for use on the day.

The Church service did us proud by starting off the events, and it was lovely to see the Majorettes with a new routine, the Cockfield School children Country Dancing, especially with the parent participation, Mini Community Games run by Sarah, Aces Dog Agility – dogs are always popular with the crowd – but Cockfield had to be different – Ashley’s Goat was a winner at the Dog Show!   Unfortunately the Falcon was not so keen on the dogs and decided he was going to fly into a tree and watch from above!   Did someone once say “never work with animals & children” but all in all the day ran its course –

THANK YOU COCKFIELD
for supporting us on a cold summer’s day.
