Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Parish Council Meeting Report, May 2017

The Parish Council met on Thursday 18th May 2017

This was the meeting when the Parish Council holds its annual election of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and appoints members of working groups and committees. Derek Southgate was re-elected as Chairman with Carl Brinkley as Vice Chairman – both were unopposed. The working groups and committees were unanimously reappointed unchanged.

It was reported that the public information event held on Tuesday 2nd concerning proposals for housing development adjacent to Mackenzie Place was extremely well attended. Feedback has been received from a number of residents who attended and, whilst the majority of comments were positive and supportive, it was acknowledged that there were some concerns and also suggestions for improvements in particular aspects of the layout. The next project meeting will take place in July and these comments will be considered. The Parish Council would like to invite residents to continue making their views known through contacting the Clerk at the address below.

It was reported that the village sign will be re-installed on Parsonage Green in the near future. However, the condition of the sign is such that the repairs that have been carried out are of a temporary nature only, and the Council agreed to obtain quotations for a replacement.

The next meetings of the Parish Council will take place on Thursday 29th June and Thursday 27th July, both at 7.30 pm.

The Parish Council may be contacted through the Clerk, Doug Reed, on 01359 241009 or by e-mail at parish.council@cockfield.org.uk
