Cockfield Community Cinema

Fourth Friday of the month, ice creams, licensed bar, wonderful sound system, hearing loop, teas and coffee, sweets, popcorn, raffle and brilliant films! The showing for August is The Post – hope to see you there!

The Village Show is on the 9th September at Clipt Bushes, the programme is in the centre of this edition of Green Links and there should be something for all the family. We need your help with plants, tombola prizes and Brica, details are on page  37.

Dave Doughnut is back with his Punch and Judy Show to entertain children of all ages, the strong among us can try the tug of war, Cockfield children will be dancing around the Maypole, there will be an array of stalls, vintage vehicles and the ever popular teas and cakes and an AMAZING GRAND RAFFLE . Please keep Sunday 9th September free!

The Show Schedule is now published and we hope you will find a class to enter, there are some different ones this year and Back by Popular Demand is a Men Only one – come on chaps let’s see what you can do with a sausage!

The Children’s Classes are Free to enter and the entries can be dropped off at the Post Office on the Friday or Saturday mornings, please encourage our young people to have a go!

The  Country & Western Evenings  will start again in September when Kenny Lee and Hustler are back on the 1st, Kenny is a real crowd pleaser and it will be an excellent evening’s entertainment.

Kevin Barry will be entertaining us on the 15th September in the Village Hall  – Kevin has a huge repertoire and will be playing requests all evening, Kevin is a true professional and it will be a great evening. Tickets are £6.00 on the door and there will be a licensed bar and the ever popular BBQ.

Mamma Mia! This is the year of Abba and Cockfield has their own ABBA tribute evening on 17th November.

Please keep the date free – tickets are £15.00 each and will include a light supper, there will be a licensed bar. Tickets are on sale at the Post Office or from Janne on 01284 828264.

Waste paper collection

The next waste paper collection will be on Sundays 26th August and 30th September. As usual, collections will start at 9.00 am. These collections are an important source of funds for the Community Council so please leave your papers out for the collectors. If you should find you have a lot of paper and card building up you don’t have to wait for the last Sunday in the month to off load it, paper and cardboard  can always be dropped off at the Dutch Barn at Cockfield Hall.
