Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – Co-ordinator required

We have been asked to circulate the information below in the hope that someone would like to consider the role of Poppy Appeal Organiser for the Cockfield area.

Mandi Cox-Osborne has provided a brief outline of the role which is detailed below:

Poppy Appeal Organisers (and Deputies) work with our Community Fundraisers throughout the year to plan and organise the Poppy Appeal in local areas. This includes:

  • Ensuring there are enough collectors in your area
  • Organising a collecting rota (normally for larger areas ie Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds)
  • Ordering and arranging distribution of poppies and other materials, with the help of your volunteers.
  • Briefing collectors
  • Collecting, counting and depositing the money raised during the appeal.

As we are the custodians of Remembrance, the Poppy Appeal has it’s National collection, two weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday, however fundraising for the Poppy Appeal runs throughout the year.

Currently, Cockfield is a ‘District Without an Organiser’ as the previous PAO stepped down at the beginning of this year so we are looking for a volunteer who would be able to assist in this year round, worthwhile role.

If you would like some more information, please contact Mandi via the phone numbers or email address below.
