Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Community Council December News

Happy New Year!!!!!

AGM

We held our AGM in the Village Hall on Friday 1st December. The Chairman delivered his report, which is published in this edition of Green Links in which he detailed an extremely successful year and thanked the outgoing Officers, Trustees, helpers and everyone who has taken part in Community Council activities. This was followed by the Treasurer’s report which indicated a healthy financial position as we go into 2018. It was noted that the minibus is in need of replacement and it was agreed by the meeting that the contents of the sinking fund should be donated to the Parish Council as a contribution toward the purchase of a new vehicle.

This was followed by the election of Trustees and Officers. Unfortunately, four Trustees, including the Treasurer, have stood down from the Board, and those remaining were reelected en mass. Fortunately we are pleased to welcome two new Trustees, Susan Metcalf and Derek Marr, and look forward to working with them on behalf of the village.

At this point, Mrs Barbara Ruffell assumed the Chair for the election of the Chairman. Rodney Williams was re-elected unopposed and our thanks to Mrs Ruffell for overseeing this part of the meeting.

The following Officers were elected unopposed:

Vice Chairman                                    Julie Goodsman
Secretary                                              Janne Cutting-Keyton
Treasurer                                              Barbara Turner

Under ‘any other business’ Janne Cutting-Keyton outlined the Village Hall Committee’s plans to improve the kitchen and indicated that a request for funding will be forthcoming during 2018. It should be noted that the Community Council was originally set up to raise funding for the building of the Village Hall, and that it has continued to support the Hall, along with other village projects,  ever since.

The meeting concluded with the Chairman expressing his thanks to the retiring Trustees and inviting all attendees to share in some refreshments.
