Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Cockfield Stitchers

We are now entering our 11th year of meeting in the committee room of the village hall and can’t believe how quickly the time has gone, there is a loyal band of us who have got into the routine of having a sewing day on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month whatever the actual date might be. Our aim was to have enough people to cover our costs and that is what we have achieved but of course anyone else who is interested would always be welcome to join us in the New Year just call in between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm.

I think I can safely say that we have all benefited from other peoples expertise and some of us have even learnt completely new skills. The amount of work done has also been incredible and the variety too, it’s just great to get feedback from others when you are working on a project plus ideas and suggestions that had not occurred to you.

There is also a great atmosphere at our meetings with many topics discussed, views aired in a genial manner, what could be better than to be in the company of such a gathering of like-minded people.

We are a relatively new group, but thriving with a core of regular attendees, mostly quilters, but other types of needle work is brought to the meetings and as it is a self help group expertise is shared amongst us.

The committee room of the village hall is the venue, always on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm or half a day, coffee and biscuits are provided, so if you are undecided about wanting to join this is an open invitation to visit on any of the Thursdays we meet and have a coffee.
